History

A Legacy Worth Celebrating

More than 30 years ago, renowned chef Umberto Menghi opened his beloved Trattoria in Whistler. Conceived as the more casual sister restaurant to the acclaimed Il Caminetto, it quickly became one of Whistler’s most cherished dining destinations. Within its warm walls, friends were made from near and far, and many guests returned to Whistler for decades, making it an enduring part of their Whistler traditions.

In his farewell message announcing his retirement, Mr. Menghi wrote that “it was time for someone else to dedicate their passion and love for the space,” adding, “We know Trattoria is in good hands.” Those generous words marked the close of one remarkable chapter in the history of this iconic location.

Today, Trattoria di Como proudly begins the next chapter.

Executive Table Group acquired the restaurant premises from Umberto Menghi’s companies with a vision of restoring this celebrated address as one of Whistler’s premier Italian dining destinations. Inspired by the timeless elegance of Lake Como and the traditions of Northern Italy, Trattoria di Como is an entirely new and independently owned restaurant that respectfully honours the remarkable history of this location while creating its own legacy for generations to come.

We are honoured to continue the story of this remarkable address and look forward to welcoming both longtime guests and first-time visitors for generations to come.

Trattoria di Como is independently owned and operated by Executive Table Group (ETG), a collection of distinctive restaurants dedicated to exceptional hospitality throughout British Columbia. Learn more at www.executivetablegroup.com
